An eco print is a plant impression made using the natural dyes and tannins present in the plants themselves. This original, one-of-a-kind silk scarf was handmade by Bridget Benton by arranging the plant material (in this case eucalyptus) directly on the silk, and then exposing the bundle to moisture, heat, vinegar, and iron - all of which work together to draw the color out of the plant and bond it to the silk. This particular scarf was also immersed in a black walnut hull solution for added depth. Every plant prints differently, so every scarf is unique!  (Background image shows the larger pattern on the scarf; foreground image shows the scarf draped as it might be if worn.)

Like any silk, this scarf should be handwashed in cold water and a mild, PH neutral cleanser like Woolite or baby shampoo. If your scarf is wrinkled, iron carefully on a low setting while damp. While the color will hold up well under regular wear, natural dyes to fade under long exposure to UV light. It is not recommended to use the scarf for display.
