Wednesday, February 19th - 10 AM to 5 PM- $165 - All materials included, but students are encouraged to bring extra if they’d like!
The inclement weather date for this class is MARCH 2nd. Please ensure you are able to attend, in the event that the original date is postponed due to winter weather conditions.
Go beyond the vision board and stretch your creative muscles in this collage class! Collage is Bridget’s way of journaling and it’s the foundation of most of her work. Join her in exploring collage as both a fine art medium and a path of self-expression.
You’ll come away with a sense for what combination of glue and surface works best with your own style, how to use collage to spark your creativity, and ways of bringing your own imagery and mark-making into your collages. We’ll also discuss what makes a successful collage composition, how to manage issues of copyright, and ways of sealing and displaying your final works.
We’ll cover all the basics – the advantages of different adhesives, sourcing and organizing materials, various substrates, and the elements of composition. We’ll start the day with a series of creative warm-up collages while exploring cut-and-paste as a tool for accessing our authentic intuitive voice.
Over the course of the day, students will have the opportunity to modify found papers using paints and inks to create their own collage fodder. Over the course of the class, students will create multiple collages with different glues and on different substrates. If there’s time and interest, I’ll even demonstrate a simple image transfer technique using packing tape!
This class seats 8 students.
