Skip the toxic chemicals and engraving plates - you can create beautiful etched works with half the supplies, half the time, and none of the fuss!

Direct Etching, also known as Scratchboard, is a beautiful technique in which the India Ink surface is scraped away with specialty tools, revealing the detailed China Clay surface beneath.  Lorelle will teach students the magic of carving away negative space and creating an image from seemingly nothing - and you DON’T need to know how to draw for this class!  Total beginners have exceptional success, Direct Etching is about learning what to remove and what details to leave for a beautiful final result.

All levels of artists are welcome, this medium is fast to learn and easy to set up at home as it requires few materials and no dangerous mediums. All materials and references will be provided for the class, and as a bonus, Lorelle will instruct students on how to best preserve and display their finished pieces.

Lorelle Bacon is a thrice nominated “Arts Educator of the Year”, and has been a working arts instructor for three decades. Working and teaching in numerous mediums, Lorelle is a fantastic all-rounder teacher. She has won numerous awards for her art, in both national and international competitions.
