COLLAGE COOKERY: RECIPES FOR CREATING WITH PAINT AND PAPER with Bridget Benton, JULY 11TH AND 12th (10am to 4pm) 2026
Saturday, July 11th and Sunday, July 12th - 10 AM to 4 PM both days- $345 - All materials for class are included, but students are encouraged to bring extra if they’d like!
If you’ve ever sat down with a bin of collage materials and your stash of art supplies and struggled to put them together in a way that felt like "art," this is the class for you!
It turns out, art and cooking have a lot in common. What you need are a few simple recipes that set you up for success! In this brand-new class, Bridget will share a few of her favorite ways of taking raw ingredients like paint, pens, and found imagery and turning them into tasty artworks.
These recipes are foundations that you can build on to make artwork that still feels like “you”! All of the recipes rely on essential elements of art like narrative, pattern, color, and value while maximizing the creative dance between repetition and variation. Using acrylic paint, watercolor, ink, acrylic markers, and collage papers, you’ll learn several recipes that let you build a foundation for your collage using:
• Just Three Elements
• A Grid, Some Scribbles, and the Power of Light and Dark
• A Spontaneous Background
• Two Hero Colors and Two Mixers
• Pattern Repeats and Rhythm
• And more!
We’ll spend two days practicing and refining the recipes, mixing and combining until you start to find a yummy process that works for you! You’ll go home with several completed pieces as well as simple starts and prompts (yes, on RECIPE CARDS!) to help you organize and construct your collages in interesting ways that still honor your unique vision.
This class seats 10 students. For any questions regarding our cancellation or transfer policy, please refer to the link in our navigation bar.
