Sumi-e brush painting is known for the artistic use of fundamental brush strokes, simple lines, and intentional placement. For new students, your first lesson will teach all of the basic strokes used in painting Bamboo. More experienced students will move on to the next group of strokes with new subjects, such as the grass orchid, chrysanthemum, iris, plum branch, and others. All students will learn how to prepare their tools, how to correctly hold the brushes, and how to get the best results from their ink.
Diana specializes in teaching these centruries-old brushstrokes in a patient, systematic manner. Sumi-e is a discipline that is relaxing and provides an escape from our everyday hectic world.
This class seats 8 students, and we suggest bringing a notebook and pen to take notes. For any questions regarding our cancellation or transfer policy, please refer to the link in our navigation bar.
