ARTIST TOOLBOX - YOUR BRUSHES AND HOW TO USE THEM with Fleta Monaghan, JUNE 24th (1pm to 3pm) 2026
Wednesday, June 24th - 1 PM to 3 PM - $95 - Students will need to bring their own supplies, see below for options to have them supplied.
Get to know an artist’s best friend - your brushes! Perfect for artists of ALL levels, beginners are welcome!
This afternoon workshop is a crash course on all things BRUSHES. How to identify the different shapes, what each type is best for, as well as learning how to hold and move the brush to achieve the effects that you want.
Students will have lots of practice time while Fleta offers tips to accomplish different styles with your paints, including:
Smooth realism
Expressive strokes
Impressionistic styles,
Scrumbled marks and more!
Learn how to use your brushes to quickly block your composition in order to give yourself the best start with a new painting. And most importantly - students will learn how to hold the brush and use your whole body to make the most of movement as your develop you own painting style.
Students will need to bring their own materials, so that they can benefit from learning about their own specific brushes. Acrylics or Oils are permitted, but Acrylics are preferred due to the fast drying time. Please see below for further information.

REQUIRED SUPPLIES
All students are required to bring their own brushes, as well as tubes of paint in Red, Yellow, Blue, and White. Please also bring a reference picture you would like to paint, either in print or digital. Nothing too complicated. For paper requirements, please see below.
If you are using Oils, please bring Arches Oil paper, Canvas paper, or paper you have pre-gessoed.
If you are using Acrylics, please bring Watercolor paper, Mixed media paper, Canvas paper, or a sturdy printmaking paper like Stonehenge.
If you are unable to supply your own paint or paper, please bring $15 IN CASH and 310 ART will be able to supply these for you.
