Paper and stitching are having a major creative moment—come see why! 

Join local textile artist Julie Bagamary for an inspiring mixed-media workshop where paper collage meets hand embroidery. In this imaginative session, you’ll design a one-of-a-kind 5″ x 5″ artwork, layering paper elements and enhancing your composition with five beautiful vintage flower postage stamps provided for you. 

You’ll explore how to thoughtfully assemble and balance a simple collage composition using curated papers, and the provided floral imagery. Discover the beauty of stitching directly onto paper as Julie guides you through the ‘Y’ stitch and straight stitch to add line, texture, and dimension. 

Additional stitch demonstrations include Feather Stitch and Colonial Knots, giving you even more ways to add intricate detail and tactile interest to your piece. 

This class is perfect for creatives of all levels who are curious about blending materials, experimenting with texture, and discovering new ways to tell visual stories through paper and thread. Leave with a finished artwork—and fresh inspiration for future mixed-media creations!

Julie Bagamary is a textile artist, instructor, speaker, author, and creative coach based in Asheville, NC.  Her award-winning work, described as a celebration of nature and humanity, has been featured in shows across North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, and more.  Her internationally collected works are prized for their unique blend of artistry and playfulness, making them a cherished addition to any collection - as well as making her workshops engaging, invigorating, and fun.
