SLOW STITCHING with Miriam Hughes, NOV 10th, (12PM-4PM) - BEGINNER FRIENDLY!
Tuesday, November 10th - 12pm to 4PM- $145 - All materials included (but bring some good scissors!)
Miriam Hughes, local artist and reborn hand sewer is offering an exciting new workshop on the joys of slow stitching - for ANY level, no sewing experience needed!
Slow stitching is an approach to hand-made textile art and embroidery that emphasizes a mindful, contemplative, and unhurried process. It involves taking time to savor each stitch, paying attention to details, and embracing the meditative aspects of the craft!
In this class, Miriam will provide students with the basic concepts of slow stitching: how to select materials, creating pleasing and cohesive compositions, how to finish your piece for display - and how to enjoy the process!
All supplies will be included in this workshop - including a slow stitch kit. But feel free to bring small scraps of fabric, buttons, ribbons - any little bits and bobs that you love! We also recommend bringing a pair of scissors and a snack.
This class seats 10 students. Cancellation and transfer policies can be found at the link in the navigation bar. Please call (828) 776 2716 or email gallery@310art.com for any questions concerning classes.
Originally a medical illustrator, Miriam Hughes works in gouache, watercolors, pens, collage and fibers and makes time to create art daily. She exhibits widely and teaches art in a number of topics.
