WET TECHNIQUES WITH DRY PASTELS! with Susan Sinyai, AUG 29th (12PM to 4PM) 2026
Saturday, August 29th- 12 PM to 4PM - $145- All materials for class provided!
It might seem counter-intuitive to use wet techniques with dry pastels, but by using the lessons taught in this class you can learn to produce a beautiful, soft, ethereal painting!
We will be using water soluble pastels, which are similar in feel to something like Prismacolor’s Nupastels. You will build up your image by putting down an initial layer, working wet, and then adding a layer on top after drying - not dissimilar to watercolors! This process will create a soft look while also giving you the flexibility to create harder, more graphic marks.
We will not be using any soft, dry pastels in this class, although this technique is suitable for creating an underpainting that can then be further refined with dry pastels. Students will be able to bring a subject matter of their choice, either abstract or realism, and additional reference pictures will be available on request.
This class seats 8 students. For any questions regarding our cancellation or transfer policy, please refer to the link in our navigation bar.
