Create a beautiful wall art collection using photo transfer and encaustic on cradled wood panels. Use digital photographs from recent times or past and revel in the soft, rustic, gently distressed imagery that "develops" from the transfer process. Learn to look (and see) differently through your camera lens. Capture unique perspectives and compose with charisma!

$165 includes all wax, bezel setting, solder, soldering irons and soldering setups an other items needed! Participants will create one fine premade bezel piece and up to three soldered pendants, 1” wide and up to 3” long. Use wax, metal and small inclusions you may wish to bring such as dried flowers, small inspirational words, bits of collage/decorative papers, or small charms. Learn fantastic skills and have fun in this exciting new class at 310 ART. (Extra materials will be available for purchase should you wish to create more)

Fri and Sat, June 23-24, 10-4 each day. $345 includes waxes and professional pigments, sample panels, and papers, as well as use of all the tools, equipment, and materials you will need to complete a number of small works using a variety of techniques! Learn about tools and materials, safety, and how to set up your own home studio. We’ll focus on archival methods and the basics of encaustic - including making your own medium, preparing and priming panels, and the proper fusing of layers – and give you lots of time to play and experiment. We’ll cover working additively and subtractively, translucent vs. opaque colors, scraping and incising, image transfers, embedding papers and fibers, use of stencils and masks (including making your own), controlled application of color, collage, pan pastels, oil paints and oil sticks, foils, and various ways of building texture and incorporating 3D objects.
Work small and come away with several pieces of completed work. Excellent course for beginners, and experienced artists can take their work to a new level. Bring a few panels and any items you may wish to collage or embed. Details will be supplied when registering.
Sat, Oct 14th 2017, 10-4, $185 includes all materials. Create 4 works of art using watercolor, alcohol ink and encaustic. Paint loose watercolor art in guided lessons. Then encapsulate and protect your work in luminous encaustic layers, embellish with ephemera and add finally add the “IT” factor. Alcohol inks add dimension and vibrant color to this mixed media artwork. You work will need no protective glass, and will be ready to hang! NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!!

“Go with the flow” with mark making and merry making in encaustic wax! Explore unconventional tools to create unique textures and designs on a diverse sampling of papers. Find out what a “hotbox” is, and do some printing and direct painting with wax. Learn techniques for personal expression in wax, paper, thread, and sew your pages into a simple yet beautiful bound journal.
