TWO TEACHERS, FIVE DAYS, ONE UNFORGETTABLE CREATIVE EXPERIENCE!

We are so excited to have the spectacular Kelly Williams join Bridget Benton as they share techniques and approaches developed during their month-long residency in Ireland during December of 2023 and refined during a joint teaching experience in Portland, OR in September of 2024.  Students will get a taste of the residency experience including creative community, experimental mark-making, a deep-dive into the meaning and intentions behind your art, as well as the time to play with new materials and techniques.

During the workshop, we will be diving into discovering and refining your unique artistic voice while drawing inspiration and symbolism from nature as well as your personal story and imagery.  The focus is on an exploration of botanicals and other natural materials as both content and material in the creation of your art and the development of meaning in your work. This is a really rich opportunity to take your work to the next level, folks!

Activities include writing prompts, organic mark-making with natural materials, plant printing, and the inclusion of organic materials, with a focus on how to incorporate these techniques into encaustic art with collage, image transfer, and experimental techniques. Students will have the opportunity to work on both paper and panel.

Under the guidance of TWO passionate and experienced instructors, you'll develop a nature inspired 'creative language' to craft artwork with personal significance AND have a ton of fun!

This class seats 8 students. Please see our cancellation policy for this class, listed below.
