Painting water that looks properly watery is not so daunting once you understand the different aspects of the water in your scene. Is it rushing, moving slowly, not at all? Is it a creek, an ocean, lake, puddle? What is over it, under it, around it?

Learning to “see” these things translates to painting water that looks like the real thing!
